Deng Weiping, Deputy Director of the Department of Gastroenterology (in charge of overall work) and Person-in-Charge of the Endoscopy Room, Academic Leader of the District Key Discipline of Gastroenterology. He holds the titles of Chief Physician, Associate Professor, Master of Medicine and Master’s Supervisor.

He is a high-level introduced medical talent of Longhua District, Shenzhen; Director of Hubei Hepatology Association; Member of the Digestive Endoscopy Branch, Hubei Association of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine; Member of the Gastroenterology and Digestive Endoscopy Special Committee, Guangdong Primary Medical Association; Member of the Digestive Endoscopy Special Committee, Guangdong Health Preservation Association; and Vice Chairman of Longhua Gastroenterology Association.

He graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Medicine from Xiangya School of Medicine, Central South University (formerly Hunan Medical University) in 1999, and obtained a Master’s degree in Internal Medicine from Wuhan University in 2006. In 2014, he received advanced training in ERCP technology at Changhai Hospital Affiliated to the Second Military Medical University.

With solid theoretical foundation and rigorous academic attitude, he has been engaged in frontline clinical work of gastroenterology and digestive endoscopy in well-known tertiary Class A hospitals nationwide for 23 years. He specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of common and refractory gastrointestinal diseases, especially the diagnosis and treatment of biliary and pancreatic diseases as well as early gastrointestinal cancer screening.

He boasts exquisite and comprehensive endoscopic operational skills, and is proficient in the following procedures: ERCP common bile duct lithotomy, nasobiliary drainage, common bile duct stenting, pancreatic duct stenting, biliary brush cytology, intraductal ultrasonography (IDUS), endoscopic ultrasonography (EUS), balloon dilation and stenting for gastrointestinal stricture, nasogastroscope combined with X-ray-guided jejunal feeding tube placement, EMR for gastrointestinal polyps, esophageal variceal ligation, sclerotherapy and ligation for internal hemorrhoids, endoscopic appendiceal irrigation under colonoscopy, emergency hemostasis for gastrointestinal bleeding, gastrointestinal foreign body removal, transnasal gastroscopy, magnifying endoscopy, etc.

He won the Special Prize in the 3rd Clinical Skills Competition of Medical Colleges in Hubei Province in 2013, and the First Prize in the Senior Physician Ward Round Competition held by the hospital in 2015. His completed research project Experimental and Clinical Study on Radiosensitization and Reversal of Radioresistance in Esophageal Cancer was awarded the Major Scientific and Technological Achievement Award of Hubei Province and the Second Prize of Shiyan Science and Technology Progress Award in 2011.

He has presided over 1 provincial research project and completed 5 provincial research projects, participated in compiling 2 academic monographs, and published 7 SCI papers (including 3 corresponding author papers). As the first author, he has published 12 papers in domestic core journals and statistical source journals.
