We Strive for Unrivaled Excellence
The Department of Obstetrics of Shenzhen Longhua District Central Hospital has a long-standing development history with continuously growing medical capabilities. Dr. Ma Kaidong, a high-level introduced talent, postdoctoral fellow, Professor, and Chief Physician, has been appointed as the Director of the Department.
The department currently has 82 open inpatient beds, including warm VIP wards and double-bed wards. It has a total of 71 medical and nursing staff: 21 physicians (including 6 Chief Physicians and 8 Associate Chief Physicians), 32 midwives, and 25 nursing staff. The department records nearly 100,000 annual outpatient visits for pregnant women, with an annual inpatient delivery volume of over 5,000 births.
Adhering to the core principle of "Promoting Natural Childbirth, Ensuring Maternal and Infant Safety", we provide high-quality medical services for pregnant and postpartum women in the surrounding areas with superb professional expertise and a strong sense of responsibility, dedicated to safeguarding the health and well-being of mothers and infants.
We Deliver Specialized Professional Care
The obstetric outpatient clinic runs a full range of specialized clinics, including: Twin Pregnancy Clinic, High-Risk Pregnancy Clinic, Hypertensive Disorders of Pregnancy Clinic, Genetic Counseling Clinic, One-Day Gestational Diabetes Clinic, Maternal Mental & Physical Wellness Clinic, Maternal Nutrition Clinic, Midwifery Clinic, and Breastfeeding Clinic.
We provide medical services including preconception and prenatal eugenics screening, genetic counseling, and pre-pregnancy health assessment. During prenatal check-ups, we deliver health education on personalized dietary guidance, weight management, fetal movement self-monitoring, psychological counseling, breastfeeding, and natural childbirth.
The department also runs a well-staffed Maternity School, with courses taught by experienced physicians, midwives, and nurse practitioners. We provide systematic health science popularization covering the full cycle of pregnancy, labor and delivery, neonatal care, and postpartum rehabilitation.
We Provide Attentive Patient-Centered Care
In the delivery room, each parturient receives one-to-one continuous midwifery care from experienced midwives throughout labor. We use a full range of labor pain relief modalities, including labor pain relief tools, non-invasive labor analgesia devices, and neuraxial labor analgesia (painless delivery), to relieve labor pain, enabling women to achieve smooth, pain-free natural childbirth with dignity and a positive childbirth experience.
Led by the department director, our obstetric medical team has outstanding clinical expertise and a strong sense of responsibility, with a consistent focus on promoting natural childbirth. Maternal-Fetal Medicine (MFM), a subspecialty focusing on the physiology and pathology of both mothers and fetuses, is the most focused area in modern obstetrics and gynecology. Our department is developing rapidly in the field of MFM.
At present, we can perform three core invasive prenatal diagnostic sampling techniques: Chorionic Villus Sampling (CVS), Amniocentesis, and Percutaneous Umbilical Cord Blood Sampling (PUBS). We plan to launch multifetal pregnancy reduction and Ex-Utero Intrapartum Treatment (EXIT) procedure in the near future. We have mature and standardized treatment protocols for the management of postpartum hemorrhage (PPH), obstetric emergencies, and severe pregnancy-related comorbidities, with clinical capabilities fully meeting the technical standards of tertiary Class A hospitals.
