The Department of Gynecology is among the first batch of Key Disciplines of Longhua District, a Guangdong Provincial Women Civilization Demonstration Post, and home to the first gynecological key laboratory in Longhua District. It is also a Collaborative Unit of the National Standardized Residency Training Base for Obstetrics and Gynecology.

The department has a highly educated, competent medical team with rich clinical experience, including 2 doctoral degree holders, 9 master's degree holders, and 22 staff with bachelor's degrees (1 on-the-job postgraduate student pursuing a master's degree). Currently, the department has 31 physicians, 29 nurses, and 45 open inpatient beds. It is equipped with 10 operating rooms, 7 sets of conventional laparoscopy systems, 1 set of single-port laparoscopy system, and 7 sets of hysteroscopy systems, which can fully support the needs of various gynecological surgeries.

The department records an annual inpatient admission and discharge volume of over 3,000 person-times, and performs more than 300 Grade 4 surgeries (including Grade 4 minimally invasive procedures) every year. In recent years, it has successfully obtained 1 municipal-level research project grant and 4 district-level research project grants, published 1 SCI-indexed paper, 4 papers in Chinese Core Journals, and 12 papers in Scientific and Technological Core Journals of China.

Inpatient Services

The inpatient ward is divided into three subspecialty groups: Gynecological Oncology, General Gynecology, and Gynecological Pelvic Floor Medicine. The department has extensive clinical experience in the diagnosis and treatment of various common gynecological diseases, including uterine fibroids, ovarian cysts, endometriosis, and gynecological malignancies.

In response to the increasing incidence of cervical cancer and endometrial cancer in younger women, the department provides fertility-sparing and physiological function-preserving treatment to improve women's postoperative quality of life. Meanwhile, it has rich experience in the emergency management of severe and acute gynecological diseases, such as ruptured or aborted ectopic pregnancy, and ovarian cyst torsion. In recent years, the department has carried out gynecological single-port laparoscopy and transvaginal single-port endoscopic surgery (vNOTES), achieving a higher level of minimal invasiveness in the treatment of gynecological diseases.

Outpatient Services

The outpatient clinic consists of 5 subspecialty groups: Family Planning, Pelvic Floor Disorders, Cervical Diseases, General Gynecology, and Gynecological Oncology, covering the following scope of diagnosis and treatment:

1.Cervical Lesion Screening: Thinprep Cytologic Test (TCT), Human Papillomavirus (HPV) detection, colposcopy, and Loop Electrosurgical Excision Procedure (LEEP) for the early detection of cervical intraepithelial neoplasia and cervical cancer. LEEP surgery is performed for cervical lesions including cervical intraepithelial neoplasia, cervical cysts, cervical polyps, and cervical condyloma acuminatum, as well as various vulvar and vaginal lesions.

2.Screening and Treatment of Pelvic Floor Disorders: Management of uterine prolapse, vaginal wall prolapse, endometrial growth promotion, chronic pelvic pain, and urinary incontinence.

3.Diagnosis and Treatment of Dysfunctional Uterine Bleeding (DUB): including adolescent DUB and perimenopausal DUB, with standardized hormone therapy.

4.Treatment of Gynecological Inflammatory Diseases: including vaginitis and pelvic inflammatory disease (PID), with standardized and rational antibiotic therapy.

5.Screening for Gynecological Malignancies: including cervical cancer, ovarian cancer, and endometrial cancer.
