Department of Orthopaedic Trauma, Shenzhen Longhua District Central Hospital

Founded in 2013, the Department of Orthopaedic Trauma was accredited as among the first batch of Key Clinical Disciplines of Longhua District in December 2015. It was rated as Excellent in the final evaluation of the district-level key clinical discipline in 2019, and was re-accredited as a Key Clinical Discipline of Longhua District in 2020. In the same year, the department introduced the "High-level Medical Team" of Longhua District — the Orthopaedic Trauma Team led by Professor Yu Bin from Nanfang Hospital, Southern Medical University.

The department currently has 33 medical and nursing staff, including 2 Chief Physicians, 6 Associate Chief Physicians, 6 Attending Physicians, and 1 Associate Chief Nurse. The team consists of 14 physicians, 18 nurses, and 1 Basic Research Fellow. Doctoral and master's degree holders account for 50% of the total physician team; among them, Dr. Song Jinqi has received advanced clinical training at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital, New York, USA.

The department has 57 authorized inpatient beds and 2 specialist expert clinics. It records an annual outpatient volume of more than 15,000 person-times, an annual inpatient discharge of approximately 1,500 person-times, and an annual surgical volume of over 2,000 procedures, including around 400 Grade 3 and Grade 4 high-difficulty surgeries.

Specialty Features & Clinical Techniques

The core clinical mission and research direction of the department focus on the diagnosis and treatment of traumatic diseases of the locomotor system, covering disorders in orthopaedic trauma, hand surgery, microsurgery and sports medicine. It has accumulated extensive clinical experience in the management of severe extremities and pelvis trauma, complex intra-articular fractures, minimally invasive internal fixation of various fractures, and arthroscopic meniscus repair and cruciate ligament reconstruction.

The department provides standardized diagnosis and treatment for the following conditions: various types of extremities fractures, severe open injuries with neurovascular injuries, pelvic and acetabular fractures, large-area skin and soft tissue defects, chronic osteomyelitis, infected nonunion of bone, limb deformity, limb dysfunction, meniscal tears, and cruciate ligament ruptures.
