Department of Respiratory Medicine, Shenzhen Longhua District Central Hospital

The Department of Respiratory Medicine is a key developing clinical specialty of our hospital, integrating clinical practice, teaching and scientific research. It currently has 63 open inpatient beds, and consists of multiple subspecialties including Chronic Airway Diseases, Pleural Diseases, Interventional Pulmonology, Pulmonary Infectious Diseases, Interstitial Lung Diseases, Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine, and Sleep Respiratory Medicine. It serves as a clinical internship base for multiple medical colleges including Guangdong Medical University.

The department has a total of 41 medical and nursing staff, including 1 Shenzhen Reserve-level Talent, 2 High-level Talents of Longhua District, Shenzhen. The team structure is as follows: 2 staff with senior professional titles (Chief Physicians), 6 with associate senior professional titles (Associate Chief Physicians), 14 with intermediate professional titles, 18 with junior professional titles; 2 staff with doctoral degrees, 9 with master's degrees, and 29 with bachelor's degrees.

In April 2018, the department was officially listed as the Shenzhen Network Unit of the National Clinical Research Center for Respiratory Diseases. In October 2018, it was accredited as a compliant unit for tertiary hospitals in the National Standardized Construction Project for Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine (PCCM) (the second accredited unit in Shenzhen). In 2020, it was approved to establish the Longhua District Key Laboratory of Infection and Immunity, with a special fund of RMB 3 million.

In the past three years, the staff of the department have presided over or participated in 2 projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), 3 provincial and municipal-level scientific research projects, and more than 3 district-level scientific research projects. They have published more than 30 academic papers, among which more than 10 are indexed in the Science Citation Index (SCI).

At present, the department is developing steadily with a maturing medical and nursing team, and has gradually formed a professional technical team with high professional standards and a reasonable personnel structure.
