Department of Rehabilitation Medicine, Shenzhen Longhua District Central Hospital

Since its establishment in 2000, the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine has taken traditional Chinese medicine appropriate techniques combined with modern rehabilitation therapy as the core treatment method, and delivers high-quality, safe, effective and personalized integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine rehabilitation services for every patient.

The department consists of outpatient and inpatient divisions. The outpatient area covers 600 square meters and the inpatient area 500 square meters, with 24 authorized inpatient beds and a specialist expert clinic. It boasts a professional team of Western medicine and TCM rehabilitation experts with rich clinical experience, totaling 33 medical, technical and nursing staff, including 12 physicians, 17 rehabilitation therapists and 1 outpatient nurse. Among them, there are 2 doctoral degree holders, 4 master’s degree holders, 6 physicians with senior professional titles and 2 attending physicians. The department has gradually developed into a professional team with a rational talent structure, exquisite clinical skills, advanced facilities and premium medical services.

The department comprehensively applies physical therapy (PT), occupational therapy (OT), speech therapy (ST), cognitive therapy, as well as various physical modalities such as sound, light, electricity, heat and magnetism. Combined with traditional Chinese rehabilitation methods including acupuncture, tuina massage, joint mobilization, acupotomy therapy and acupoint injection, it treats dysfunctions of movement, sensation, speech, swallowing and cognition caused by various diseases.

It also carries out featured rehabilitation therapies such as floating needle therapy for pain relief and pediatric tuina for torticollis, forming a set of distinctive integrated Chinese and Western medicine techniques with high safety and satisfactory curative effects.

In 2018, relying on the first batch of the High-level Medical Team Project of Longhua District, the department introduced the rehabilitation medical team led by Professor Gutenbacher from Germany. Advanced German rehabilitation concepts and technologies such as cardiopulmonary rehabilitation, oncological rehabilitation and lymphatic rehabilitation have been introduced into the department, striving to build a standardized early rehabilitation center for critically ill patients.
