Department of Geriatrics / Special Demand Ward

Shenzhen Longhua District Central Hospital established the Department of Geriatrics / Special Demand Ward in 2015. It has built a professional team with exquisite medical skills, multidisciplinary backbones and high-quality services, providing high-quality, efficient, convenient and personalized medical services for patients with geriatric diseases and common internal medical illnesses.

To meet the multi-level demands for medical and health services as well as personalized high-end medical needs, the department delivers comprehensive medical and health care services including outpatient treatment, inpatient care, physical examination, health promotion and chronic disease management, featuring streamlined medical procedures, warm and elegant medical environment and humanized service model.

The department serves as the Vice President Unit of Geriatrics Branch of the China Association of Gerontology and Geriatrics, Vice Chairman Unit of the Precision Cardiovascular Medicine Expert Committee of the China Association of Gerontology and Geriatrics, President Unit of Shenzhen Geriatrics Society, Chairman Unit of the Cardiovascular Disease Prevention and Rehabilitation Committee of Shenzhen Medical Doctor Association, Chairman Unit of the Geriatric Health Management Committee of Shenzhen Health Management Association, Vice President Unit of Geriatrics Branch of Shenzhen Medical Doctor Association, and Longhua Branch of the National Standardized Vascular Aging Management Center.

Targeting the construction of eight featured medical centers, namely the Senior Cadre and Intellectual Health Care Center, Geriatric Health Management Center, Geriatric Critical Illness Treatment Center, Geriatric Nutrition Demonstration Center, Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment Center, Geriatric Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation and Sleep Center, Geriatric Chronic Disease H2H Management Center, and Geriatric Perioperative Assessment and Management Center, the department focuses on three major research directions, striving to become an industry benchmark for geriatric medicine, rehabilitation and health care in northern Shenzhen.

Adopting integrated management of outpatient and inpatient services, the department currently has 21 open beds. It develops featured disciplines including cardiovascular disease prevention, treatment and rehabilitation, comprehensive geriatric assessment, multidisciplinary integrated rehabilitation and elderly care, and geriatric chronic disease health management.

It covers systemic diseases in cardiovascular medicine, endocrinology, respiratory medicine, gastroenterology, nephrology, neurology, oncology and other disciplines. Core technical services include cardiac rehabilitation, functional training and health preservation rehabilitation.

With sophisticated medical expertise and team spirit, the department adopts an integrated service system that combines holistic medical care with specialized diagnosis and treatment, health maintenance with chronic disease management, and conventional medical technology with special customized services. It provides all-round high-quality medical services integrating diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation, nursing and health care for patients.
