Department of Neurosurgery, Shenzhen Longhua District Central Hospital
Founded in March 2007, the Department of Neurosurgery is the largest emergency treatment center for severe traumatic brain injury (TBI) and other acute neurosurgical diseases in Longhua District. At present, its medical technology maintains a leading level in Longhua District. The department adheres to the department motto of "Learning knows no bounds, and service has no limits", is committed to the coordinated development of four core pillars: clinical practice, teaching, scientific research and management, and strives to provide the public with safe, effective, accessible and affordable medical services.
Chief Physician Si Wen, the discipline leader, has served as the department director for 20 years. With profound academic knowledge, superb clinical skills, excellent management capabilities and noble medical ethics, he has built a professional team with outstanding overall quality, noble medical ethics, and a spirit of unity, hard work and dedication.
At present, the department has a total of 27 medical and nursing staff. The physician team consists of 8 members, including 3 Chief Physicians, 4 Attending Physicians, and 1 Resident Physician. The nursing team comprises 20 members. The department has 44 open inpatient beds, and is equipped with high-end diagnostic and therapeutic equipment and surgical instruments, including a Digital Subtraction Angiography (DSA) system, craniotomy power system, multiple surgical microscopes, ultra-high-definition neuroendoscope, and microsurgical head frame.
The department has accumulated extensive clinical experience in the treatment of severe craniocerebral trauma and cerebrovascular diseases, with particularly prominent technical advantages. It has well-established subspecialties including neuro-oncology, neurointervention, and functional neurosurgery, and has fully carried out corresponding routine, complex and intractable surgeries. Scope of Specialty Diagnosis and Treatment
Craniocerebral Trauma Diseases
Acute and severe craniocerebral trauma, epidural hematoma (EDH), subdural hematoma (SDH), cerebral contusion and laceration, skull fracture, traumatic cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) leak, scalp avulsion, and other acute and critical neurosurgical diseases.
Cerebral and Spinal Vascular Diseases
Common and complex cerebral/spinal vascular diseases including cerebral aneurysm, cerebral/spinal vascular malformation, cerebral/spinal cavernous angioma, carotid-cavernous fistula (CCF), dural/spinal dural arteriovenous fistula (DAVF), moyamoya disease, carotid artery stenosis/occlusion, intracranial artery stenosis/occlusion, intracranial venous sinus thrombosis/stenosis, acute intracranial large artery occlusion, intracerebral hemorrhage, and cerebral infarction.
Nervous System Tumors
Nervous system tumors including glioma, meningioma, pituitary adenoma, intraspinal tumor, intramedullary tumor, craniopharyngioma, acoustic neuroma (vestibular schwannoma), trigeminal schwannoma, neurofibroma, jugular foramen tumor, chordoma, cholesteatoma, germinoma, hemangioblastoma, teratoma, lymphoma, and brain metastasis.
Functional Neurosurgery
Trigeminal neuralgia, glossopharyngeal neuralgia, headache, neck, shoulder, low back and leg pain, herpes zoster-related pain, post-stroke pain, cancer pain, and neuropathic pain caused by various nerve injuries; hemifacial spasm, functional reconstruction for severe facial paralysis, diabetic peripheral neuropathy, coma arousal (management of prolonged disorders of consciousness), refractory epilepsy, Parkinson's disease, tremor, dystonia, spasmodic torticollis, tic disorders and other functional neurological diseases.
Other Diseases
Hydrocephalus, tethered cord syndrome, syringomyelia, Chiari malformation, craniocervical junction malformation (atlantoaxial dislocation, basilar invagination, etc.), and degenerative spinal diseases.
