Department of Neonatology, Shenzhen Longhua District Central Hospital

Established in September 2014, the Department of Neonatology is a key discipline of Shenzhen Longhua District Central Hospital. The department has 35 authorized inpatient beds, and is equipped with multiple multifunctional monitors, infant incubators, double-sided blue light phototherapy units, multiple non-invasive ventilators, invasive ventilators, therapeutic hypothermia devices, transport incubators and other advanced medical equipment.

The department carries out a full range of professional technical procedures, including endotracheal intubation, lateral ventricular puncture, neonatal exchange transfusion, intrapulmonary instillation of Curosurf, therapeutic hypothermia, umbilical vein puncture, lumbar puncture, duodenal feeding, peripherally inserted central catheter (PICC) placement, neonatal behavioral neurological assessment, ventilator therapy, and bedside ultrasonography.

The department has 31 medical and nursing staff in total, including 11 physicians: 2 Chief Physicians, 7 professionals with intermediate professional titles, 1 Resident Physician and 4 postgraduate degree holders. There are 20 nurses, among whom there are 1 specialized nurse, 1 Associate Chief Nurse and 8 Supervisor Nurses.

The department is responsible for the diagnosis and treatment of neonatal diseases, as well as the transportation, emergency rescue, monitoring, treatment and nursing of critically ill newborns in surrounding areas, fully safeguarding the health of neonatal infants in the district.
